TYLER, Texas (KETK) — After a tough 4-1 loss to Hillsdale College on Friday night, in a game in which UT Tyler Softball led 1-0 heading into the top of the seventh, the Patriots bounced back with a 13-7 win over the Chargers on Saturday afternoon at Irwin Field.
UT Tyler strung together 13 hits, with Kaylee Cavazos going 4-for-5 at the plate and Taryn Barney belting a three-run home run to help lift the Patriots over Hillsdale.
UT Tyler went on to shut out Northeastern State 8-0 in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader.
The Patriots (5-4) are back in action on Sunday, February 8 for day three of the UT Tyler Classic when the Pats take on Northeastern State at 2 p.m. at Irwin Field.
