Who are Ireland's athletes at the Winter Olympics?

The spectacle of the 2026 Winter Olympics are now well under way in Milan-Cortina.

Nobody has ever won a Winter Olympic medal for Ireland, but four athletes will head to Italy with dreams of achieving history.

So, who are the athletes, what are their sports and when are they in action? BBC Sport NI takes a look.

Cormac Comerford (Alpine Skiing)

Alpine skier Cormac Comerford is competing in his first Olympics and will take part in four events in Milan-Cortina.

The 29-year-old is racing in his first Olympics after three previous attempts and crowdfunding helped him reach the Games in Italy.

He started in the Downhill in Bormio, where he finished in 34th place after a practice crash, and will also race in the Super-G, Giant Slalom and Slalom.

Comerford, who learnt to ski at the Kilternan dry slopes, works as a mechanical engineer in the off-season and spends the winter training and competing across Europe.

Thomas Maloney Westgard (Cross Country)

Cross country skier Thomas Maloney Westgard is competing in his third Winter Olympics.

Born in in the island of Leka in Norway, Westgard has a mother from Galway and a Norwegian father.

The 30-year-old, who races professionally for Team Aker Daehile, will compete in three events, in the 10km + 10km Skiathlon, the 10km free cross country and the 50km classic.

Maloney Westgard has a best finish of 14th at the 2022 Games in Beijing in the 15km individual.

Anabelle Zurbay (Alpine Skiing)

Teenager Anabelle Zurbay will make history as the youngest alpine skier to represent Ireland at the Winter Olympics.

Zurbay, who turned 17 just before Christmas, is based in Vali, Coloarda and qualifies for Ireland through her grandmother Rosaleen, who is from Westmeath.

She will race in the Slalom and Giant Slalom in Cortina in the Dolomites.

Zurbay also had the honour of being one of Ireland's two flagbearers for the opening ceremony, alongside Maloney Westgard.

Ben Lynch (Freestyle Skiing)

Ben Lynch will make his Olympic debut when he takes part in freestyle skiing at the Games.

Lynch was born in Dublin and moved to Vancouver at a young age, where he discovered skiing.

The 23-year-old was in Canada's development pathway but made the switch to join Ireland in 2024.

He will race in the freestyle skiing halfpipe, which begins towards the end of the Games.
