Kayshon Boutte’s family has been at the center of his journey from New Iberia, La. to the New England Patriots.
His parents supported his love of sports as a child and later as he signed with the LSU Tigers, according to Louisiana First News. In his sophomore year of college, he underwent ankle surgery and struggled with the recovery process, which led to a gambling addiction, as he detailed in his The Players’ Tribune essay, “How Did I Get Here.” But when Boutte welcomed a son, Kylan, in 2022, focusing on fatherhood became a turning point in his life.
As a successful Patriots player today, Boutte continues to prioritize his family. In an October 2025 interview with Steve Burton, he recalled buying 40 tickets for family and friends to watch his game in New Orleans against the Saints. “They don’t get to catch every game, so it was the one game that everybody got to catch, so I think it was cool,” he said.
Here’s everything to know about Kayshon Boutte’s parents and son.

Boutte was raised in New Iberia, La. According to his father Embrick, the family lived in a "quiet part" of the town, he told The Advocate in 2020.
Embrick said he wanted to give his son what he never had growing up, including a stable household and solid support system. He added that he still keeps a hard drive containing hours of footage from Boutte’s childhood track meets and football games.
Boutte also has a few younger siblings, including brothers Mekhi and Bryce and twin sisters Maya and Milani.

In his January 2026 essay for The Players' Tribune, Boutte praised his father as a “real hard-working dude,” describing his offshore, blue-collar work that had him waking up at 5 or 6 a.m. He noted that he didn’t come from a wealthy household, but said, “anything we wanted, my parents made it happen.” Boutte always wanted to provide that for his own family.
According to TheAdvocate, Embrick built offshore platforms on the Louisiana coastline and often returned home late, following his son’s sports milestones through videos. Eventually, he got a new job with a more flexible schedule, allowing him to be more involved in his son’s football journey.
In January 2025, Embrick joined Acadian Contractors as a quality inspector, per a Facebook announcement.

In September 2022, Boutte and his girlfriend welcomed a son named Kylan. At the time, Boutte was excused from the Tigers' game against New Mexico, per Sports Illustrated.
In a June 2023 TikTok video featuring Patriots players sharing their favorite parts of fatherhood, Boutte reflected on watching his son grow. “He’s in the process of crawling, getting ready to walk,” he said. “It’s just that phase of watching him grow.”

Boutte credits his son with helping him recover from his gambling addiction. In his January 2026 essay for The Players’ Tribune, he admitted, “I gambled until I was completely broke. When it was all said and done, I put in around $90,000 of my own money, and lost it all.”
He wrote that two things “saved” him: getting healthy enough to return to football and becoming a father as a junior in college. “Nothing wakes you up faster than that,” Boutte noted about welcoming a child. The NFL star explained that fatherhood pushed him to take his mental health seriously, and that’s when he began to see his life turn around.

Embrick and Boutte's mom have been the Patriots receiver's biggest supporters, cheering him on throughout his football career. When he joined the LSU Tigers in September 2020, they were ready to celebrate. “I had a plaque made for his signing day,” Boutte's mom told Louisiana First News. “It says ‘dreams do come true,’ and I have a picture of him when he was 8 years old.” She got to present it to her son on the special day.
“I’m very, very, very, very excited,” she added, noting that playing for the Tigers had always been her son’s dream. “I’m so excited for him, nervous as well, very nervous. He’s always wanted to play in Tiger Stadium.”
