Former Illinois cornerback Devon Witherspoon came up large in the NFL's biggest game as the Seattle Seahawks beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60, 29-13.

Witherspoon nearly made his case as an MVP candidate in the season finale despite the honor going to running back Kenneth Walker III. Nonetheless, Witherspoon was all over the field Sunday, as a fourth-quarter strip sack-turned-touchdown (Witherspoon forced the strip sack) sealed the win for the Seahawks.

Witherspoon became the 28th ex-Illini to win a Lombardi Trophy, but when looking at the accomplishment from a 10,000-foot view, Witherspoon told NBC Sports how excited he is to celebrate with his teammates.

"I’m finna go have a drink, or two, or maybe three.” Witherspoon said.

If this isn't a mic drop moment from Witherspoon, it's hard to justify what would top it.

Witherspoon has enjoyed the ride over the last few seasons, as he was drafted No. 5 overall in 2023 before eventually becoming one of the NFL's most exciting players.

"We're always gonna celebrate, give [the LOB] guys credit for what they do, but, like I said, we got to do things our own way, and we got to find our own identity," Witherspoon said last Monday ahead of the game.

And it seems this version of the Seahawks are doing just that. We'll see if Witherspoon maintains his level of swagger as the off-season gets underway.

But, for now, the celebration has just begun.
