The first full weekend of the NFL preseason began on Thursday. The Cincinnati Bengals faced the Philadelphia Eagles, the Baltimore Ravens took on the Indianapolis Colts, and the final game of the night was the Las Vegas Raiders against the Seattle Seahawks.

The second game was Colts-Ravens, and Baltimore won, 24-16. However, Colts fans had a difficult time watching the game after a series of injuries took place.

The first one was to quarterback Anthony Richardson, who suffered a gruesome-looking injury to his finger that forced him to leave the game and had fans assigning blame to the offensive line.

Another one was to rookie cornerback Justin Walley, who was selected in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Walley suffered an injury during practice on Tuesday, but the update came after the game on Thursday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

"Colts HC Shane Steichen said rookie third-round pick Justin Walley, who was challenging to start at cornerback, suffered a season-ending torn ACL," Schefter wrote on X.

Colts head coach Shane Steichen also spoke about the injury after the game, per JJ Stankevitz of Colts.com.

"Huge blow," Steichen said. "I think he was having a hell of a camp. His man coverage skills were great, he was making a ton of plays in practice too before it happened."

First, it was Richardson, who is a worrisome sight for the Colts, as he is in a QB battle with Daniel Jones. Then, it was Walley, who played college football at Minnesota and was taking big strides during camp in hopes of earning a starting role.

As such, fans took to social media to let out their frustration and their concerns.

"Why am I a fan of cursed franchises?" one fan wrote. "Starting quarterback got hurt again and our second and third round picks look to be out. Fun stuff ahead in 2025," said another.

"This team is cursed man. Unreal. Hate this for Walley," another said. "All of our sports teams are cursed," another stated.

"Cursed I'm so sick of it," another fan wrote. "Just a horrible first preseason night for Shane Steichen and the Colts. Justin Walley is a ball hawk, and just devastating that his rookie season has ended before it even begun," another said.

So, it was not the start to the preseason that Colts fans were hoping for.

Colts Have a Myriad of Injuries Already

Right now, Week 1 of the regular season is still a ways out, but there is already an injury report for the Colts.

Here are all the players currently nursing injuries, according to CBS Sports.

  • DT DeForest Bucker, foot
  • OLB Zaire Franklin, ankle
  • RB Salvon Ahmed, lower leg
  • DE Samson Ebukam, Achilles
  • CB Charvarius Ward, leg
  • CB Julius Brents, hamstring
  • LB Liam Anderson, hamstring
  • CB Jaylon Jones, hamstring
  • QB Anthony Richardson, hand
  • LB Jaylon Carlies, shoulder
  • LB Segun Olubi, ankle
  • CB Justin Walley, ACL
  • DE JT Tuimoloau, knee

Tuimoloau was the Colts' second-round draft pick this past year from Ohio State, so this means two rookies are banged up, with Walley officially out for the year.

The Colts' next preseason game is on August 16 against the Green Bay Packers, but it's not a promising sign after one week.
