One of the downsides to these preseason games being exhibitions is that even record-setting games won't be counted in the official record book. That will certainly be upsetting for one kicker who would have shattered the prior record.
During today's preseason game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jaguars kicker Cam Little attempted a 70-yard field goal - one of the longest attempts in NFL history. To the shock of everyone in the stadium, Little's kick split the uprights as time expired in the first half.

That 70-yard kick would have shattered Justin Tucker's NFL record of 66 yards by the length of about several normal-sized people.
Reactions
Fans were absolutely stunned by Little's incredible feat.
"Insane. These kickers need to get tested, most amazing field goal I’ve ever seen he could’ve made a 73!!!!" one user remarked.
"Fantasy draft in half an hour. I might pick him in the first," another joked.
"dude just guaranteed that roster spot," a third declared.
"Jags scoring 40 a game when kickoffs starts at the 35 and they need 5 yards to be in field goal range," a fourth pointed out.
"Could have made that from 75 yards out."
It won't count...
While the kick may have been record-shattering, the NFL record book sadly won't recognize it. Numbers may be recorded for posterity, but they are not counted in any official record books.
As a result, Tucker's 66-yard field goal will continue to stand as the official longest field goal in NFL history.
Job Security forever
On the plus side, Little showing that he is strong enough to boot a 70-yard field goal bodes extremely well for his NFL future. Even if the Jaguars cut Little somewhere down the line, teams are going to be eager to pick up someone who can boot a field goal that far.
Little is in just his second year in the league. He was impressive enough as a rookie, converting 27 field goals on 29 attempts. He converted all of his extra points and recorded touchbacks on over 85-percent of his kickoffs.
Heaven help us if he ever gets to kick in Denver, where some of the longest field goals in NFL history frequently get kicked amid the thin air of the Mile High City.
