Michigan football will officially begin its 2025 season ranked inside the top 15 nationally, according to the AP Poll, which was just released on Monday afternoon. The Wolverines enter the season ranked No. 14.

Michigan enters the season at the fifth-highest-ranked Big Ten team, behind only Penn State, Ohio State, Oregon and Illinois. This marks the fourth consecutive season that Michigan begins the year ranked inside the top 15. In 2024, the Wolverines started ranked No. 9; in 2023, they entered the season ranked No. 2; and in 2022, they were ranked No. 8 to open the season.

Notably, Michigan’s Week 2 opponent, Oklahoma, begins the season ranked No. 18. The only other ranked opponent in the preseason poll on Michigan’s schedule is Ohio State.
