Marsh's real opinion of Boston revealed...
Chicago Sky Coach Has Strong Words For Aliyah Boston on Saturday originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Aliyah Boston and the Indiana Fever are looking to end a two-game winning streak, hosting Tyler Marsh and the Chicago Sky at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday night.
Boston and the Fever have been without All-WNBA point guard Caitlin Clark for the past nine games, still recovering from her second groin injury of the 2025 WNBA season. Indiana also didn't have a single true point guard in their rotation after Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson suffered major injuries as well, ending their seasons.
And, once again, she was out on Saturday, leaving Coach Marsh and company to move their focus to Boston.
Tyler Marsh Had High Praise For Aliyah Boston
Ahead of the fourth Fever vs. Sky contest of the season, Marsh spoke to the media during a pregame interview. When asked about Boston's evolution as a player during her three WNBA seasons, the first-year head coach had nothing but positive things to say.
“I mean, she’s one of the best picks in this league," Marsh said. "Her versatility continues to improve. She’s evolving as the game evolves. And I think that, you know, we’ll continue to see post players kind of move out and add that, you know, kind of aspect to their game. And so, she’s done a great job of adding different elements each offseason and coming back a more refined and more polished player."
Marsh added that the Sky will have their work cut out for them against Boston, especially with Angel Reese still sidelined.
"She obviously was already extremely damaging down low, and so her being able to stretch it out in her mid-range and being able to shoot threes and getting into two-man game like you mentioned, like she’s just she’s created herself into an all-around player from that position," the Sky coach said. "She’s one of the best in this league. She’s an All-Star for a reason, and we got our work cut out for us tonight.”
Boston's Impact on the Fever
Through 31 games during the 2025 regular season, Boston was having arguably the best year of her three-year career. The three-time All-Star is averaging a career-high 15.1 points on 53.4% shooting, 8.4 rebounds and a career-high 3.7 assists.
Boston has also become more comfortable shooting 3-pointers. In her rookie season (2023), she only attempted 10 shots from distance, hitting 40%. In 2024, that number rose to 26 3-point attempts, but the efficiency dropped to 26.9%.
This year, Boston is on track to break her career-high in 3-pointers, sitting with 23 attempts prior to Saturday's game. But her efficiency dropped yet again to a career-low 21.7%
