Commanders' Jayden Daniels Reunited With One of His Biggest Supporters at Preseason Game

The Washington Commanders lost 48-18 to the New England Patriots on Friday, a loss that showed how far some of the backups and others on coach Dan Quinn's team have to go this season. The Commanders are now the hunted in the NFC, a distinction Quinn is not willing to embrace as he and his team continue to hunt their franchise's first Super Bowl appearance since 1992, a 37-24 win over the Buffalo Bills. On Sunday, a video surfaced of Daniels meeting with one of his biggest supporters, a player who had faith in him from the early days at LSU after his transfer from Arizona State who has gone on to become a big-time NFL talent in his own way.

"WHOLESOME: #Commanders star Jayden Daniels and his former left tackle Will Campbell were reunited after his first #NFL game this weekend," ML Football wrote on X along with a video of their heartfelt moment and multicolored heart emojis.

Campbell, a 6-foot-6, 319 pound offensive tackle, was selected No. 4 overall by the Patriots in the 2025 NFL draft.

He had big expectations for Daniels during his time with the LSU Tigers, making a bold prediction that came out of left field after Daniels transferred in from the Sun Devils.

"I remember, verbatim, I told my dad, 'He's gonna win the Heisman Trophy next year,'" Campbell said at the NFL Scouting Combine this spring.

Campbell's Patriots got the better of Daniels' Commanders on Friday in a game that didn't feature a full complement of players.

Coach Quinn had strong words about the final score while the Terry McLaurin and Commanders contract dispute got a two-word update that doesn't bode well for Commanders fans.

Next up for Washington is a preseason matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday, August 18, a game that suddenly seems more urgent after Washington was beaten soundly by what most fans believe is a "lesser" team.
