This is really, really bad.
Giants' Heliot Ramos might have just made the worst throw in MLB history originally appeared on The Sporting News
Heliot Ramos can really swing the bat.
But in left field, the San Francisco Giants' leadoff hitter often leaves a lot to be desired.
That was certainly true on Wednesday afternoon.
This is a clip you'll probably watch a couple times. It's that perplexing.
Ramos goes to play a ball off the wall, and he fields it cleanly. But then when he turns to throw, a nightmare ensues.

It's not clear whether Ramos tried to hold onto the ball, or if he tried to change the throw's destination at the last minute, but regardless, the result was a throw that barely trickled out of his hand on the ground and had to be chased a long way by the cutoff man.
And don't be confused by the tongue in cheek caption on this post on X, either - it's just mocking Ramos:

It's really been a rough second half of the season for the Giants.
When they traded for Rafael Devers, it felt like a move that could make them darkhorse World Series contenders.
But at this point, it's hard to see them going on an improbable run to even get in the playoffs.

Instead, their season may wind down with moments like this, the kind that are so perplexing you can't quite take your eyes off them.
Ramos will want to erase this one from his memory bank, that's for sure.
But for the Giants fans out there watching, this throw sums up so much. It's a bit of a microcosm of the season.
