Cam Little's 70-yard field goal last Saturday will not be etched in the NFL record books, but some of his uniform will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame
Cam Little’s booming 70-yard field goal in last Saturday’s preseason Jacksonville Jaguars loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers won’t be in printed in the NFL record book, but some of his game-worn uniform will be forever immortalized.
The second-year pro and all-time most accurate Arkansas kicker received a call from the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, requesting he mail some game-worn attire, so he shipped off his No. 39 jersey and cleat on Wednesday.
“It’s going to a piece of history now,” Little said in a video on X posted by the Jaguars as he was packing the box.
Cam Little looking to keep climbing NFL kicking ranks
The real NFL regular season does not begin until Sept. 4, but Little’s hot start combined with last season’s success as a rookie could be a catapult to solidifying himself as one of the league’s elite kickers.
A Moore (Okla.) native, Little was the 212th selection in the sixth round by the Jags in the 2024 NFL Draft and earned All-Rookie Team honors last fall by the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA). He converted 27 of his 29 field goal attempts (93.1%) – including 5 of 6 from more than 50 yards out – with a long of 59 and scored a total of 108 points. He also had 65 touchbacks on kickoffs.
Little, 21, would have beaten the NFL record for longest field goal successfully attempted by four yards had it been the regular season. His longest as a Razorback was from 56 yards out.
“We attempted a lot of long field goals in training camp,” Little said following the game, which the Jags fell 31-25 to the Steelers. “I had the opportunity a couple times to hit some probably 65-pluses before and so I really wanted to go out there and see.
“Kind of in range, I guess you could say, so wanted to go out there and see what we could do and it ended up going over the uprights. So it was pretty cool.”
Little connected on an additional three field goals in that contest to finish the night four of four.
PAT is a guarantee
Little’s mark of converting 82.8% (53 of 64) of his all-time field goal attempts at Arkansas from 2021-2023 is the best in program history, but possibly the most impressive feat Little has accomplished thus far is his 100% successful rate on extra point attempts.
Records dating back to Little’s junior season at Southmoore High show that from 2019 as a junior through last year with the Jags, Little is 194 of 194 on PATs: 38 of 38 in two years at Southmoore, 129 of 129 at Arkansas, 27 of 27 as a rookie in the NFL.
