Griner defeated her former team...
Brittney Griner Had Three Words For WNBA Stars After Dream-Mercury Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
After missing the last three games due to a neck injury, Brittney Griner returned on Sunday against her former team.
The Dream knocked off Alyssa Thomas and the Phoenix Mercury 74-66, securing their fifth straight win and 20th overall on the 2025 WNBA season.
Following the game, Griner linked up with Thomas and Satou Sabally, both of whom are in their first season with the Mercury. Griner had a short moment with Thomas, greeting her with a hug and a few words. Her conversation with Sabally, on the other hand, was much lengthier.
The Dream posted a video of the interactions on social media, to which Griner commented, "It's all love" on Threads.
In her return, Griner played 13 minutes off the bench, but her impact on the stat sheet was underwhelming, tallying two points on 1-of-3 shooting, two rebounds and one block. Thomas led the way for Phoenix with 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists, while Sabally added seven points.
While the Dream have found success with the addition of Griner, the 6-foot-9 center is having one of the worst statistical seasons of her 12-year career. Through 26 games played, 25 of which were starts, the former Baylor star is averaging career lows of 10.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 22.9 minutes per game.
Griner and the Dream will cap off their three-game road trip on Wednesday, facing the Seattle Storm at 10:00 p.m. ET.
