Stanford will get their season underway on Thursday, August 14th at home against San Francisco. Kickoff time is set for 7:00 PM PT on ACCNX. The Dons are coming off a season in which they went 5-11-2 overall and 1-7-2 in the WCC. That said, they did battle Stanford tough last season when they played up in The City, losing 1-0. Given it’s a Bay Area rivalry match, Stanford better come out sharp in this one. Especially since they didn’t have an exhibition to warm up.
Stanford will stay at home to face No. 16 Santa Clara on Sunday, August 17th. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM PT on ACCNX. The Broncos always give the Cardinal trouble, forming a fierce crosstown rivalry over the years. Last season, the Broncos fell to Stanford 1-0 in a competitive match at their place. This year they’ll look to get even on The Farm. The Broncos lost in the second round of the NCAA tournament to North Carolina by final score of 1-0 after knocking off BYU in the first round 1-0. Both matches were on the road.
Stanford will once again remain home, facing San Diego State on Thursday, August 21st at 7:00 PM PT on ACCNX. That will be part of a doubleheader with men’s soccer (Sacramento State at 3:00 PM PT). The Aztecs went 9-8-4 overall and 6-2-3 in the Mountain West last season. They lost to Stanford at home last season by a final score of 3-1. On paper, Stanford should win this match with little trouble, but sometimes these are the matches that can trip you up.
Stanford will continue their homestand with a home match against Saint Mary’s on Sunday, August 24th at 1:00 PM PT on ACCNX. This will be part of a doubleheader with men’s soccer (Denver at 7:00 PM PT). The Gaels went 7-7-4 overall and 4-3-3 in the WCC. While they missed the NCAA tournament, the Gaels played the Cardinal tough at home last season, losing 1-0. Like all Bay Area matches, Stanford better bring it in this one.
Stanford’s home stand will conclude against a former Pac-12 foe: Arizona, who is now part of the Big XII. The match is set for Thursday, August 28th at 7:00 PM PT on ACCNX. The Wildcats went 11-6-2 overall and 6-4-1 in the Big XII last season. The last time they played Stanford, Arizona lost 3-0 in 2023 in a match that was played at Cagan. On paper, Stanford should win this one, but with it being a former Pac-12 matchup, you know the Wildcats are going to come in fired up.
Stanford will then hit the road to face No. 5 USC on Thursday, September 4th at 6:30 PM PT on Big Ten Network. USC went 18-1-4 overall and 10-0-1 in the Big Ten last season. They had a heartbreaking loss to Wake Forest in the Elite Eight at home in penalty kicks, one match away from reaching the Final Four. This will be a terrific challenge for Stanford. Especially with it being on the road.
Stanford will stay in the City of Angels to face No. 8 UCLA on Sunday, September 7th at 1:00 PM PT on Big Ten Plus. The Bruins went 17-4-3 overall last season and 8-1-2 in the Big Ten. They had a strong season last year, but had a disappointing performance in the NCAA tournament, losing to Virginia Tech in the second round 2-1. This will be another intense battle for the Cardinal that they better be ready for. A crucial road trip.
Stanford will remain on the road to open up ACC play as they face Clemson on Thursday, September 11th at 3:00 PM PT on ACCN. Clemson went 6-8-3 overall and 2-7-1 in the ACC last season. They are expected to be better this season as they are receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Poll. This is one that has the chance to be a trap match for Stanford. Assuming Clemson is indeed improved as they are expected to be.
Stanford will stay on the road once more for another ACC match against Pittsburgh on Sunday, September 14th at 10:00 AM PT on ACCNX. The Panthers went 9-6-3 overall and 3-5-2 in the ACC last season. They ended the season on a three-match losing streak, failing to make the NCAA tournament. Stanford will be favored in this one, but with it being on the road and early in the morning on the West Coast, this is one where if you can just walk out with a win, you’ll be happy.
Stanford will return home for their ACC home opener against Boston College on Thursday, September 25th at 7:00 PM PT on ACCNX. The Eagles went 12-5-2 overall and 4-4-2 in the ACC last season, unable to reach the NCAA tournament. This will be an important match for Stanford given it’s their ACC home opener. On paper, they’ll be heavily favored in this one.
Stanford will stay at home for a match against Syracuse on Sunday, September 28th at 1:00 PM PT on ACCNX (Boston College at 7:00 PM PT). The Orange went 6-10-2 overall and 0-9-1 in the ACC last season. Having a pretty pitiful season. Stanford better take care of business handily in this one.
Stanford will then welcome No. 14 Virginia Tech to The Farm on Thursday, October 9th at 7:00 PM PT on ACCNX. The Hokies went 14-6-3 overall and 6-2-2 in the ACC last season, losing to Duke in the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament. This match projects to be an intense battle with a lot on the line.
Stanford will stay at home to wrap up their homestand as No. 15 Virginia comes to The Farm on Sunday, October 12th at 1:00 PM PT on ACCNX. The Cavaliers went 13-5-1 overall and 5-5 in the ACC last season, losing in the second round of the NCAA tournament in penalty kicks to Wisconsin. This projects to be another fierce battle at Cagan and another critical match.
Stanford will then hit the road to face No. 3 Florida State on Thursday, October 16th at 4:00 PM PT on ACCNX. The Seminoles are coming off a season in which they went 15-2-4 overall and 7-2-1 in the ACC. After winning the national title in 2023 and defeating Stanford in the championship match, they lost in the second round of the NCAA tournament last year, which was a major disappointment. They’ll be eager to have a bounce back season. Both teams should be fired up for this one.
Stanford will stay in the Sunshine State to face Miami on Sunday, October 19th at 9:00 AM PT on ACCN. Miami is coming off a season in which they went 5-8-4 overall and 1-6-3 in the ACC. Stanford on paper will be favored in this one, but with it coming on the heels of a tough match against Florida State and with the 9:00 AM PT start time, this is a match that could be a trap game if they are not careful.
Stanford will then return to the Bay Area to welcome SMU to The Farm for a match on Saturday, October 25that 7:00 PM PT on ACCNX. The Mustangs went 6-9-2 overall and 2-6-2 in the ACC last season. Stanford will be favored. Especially with it being at home. If Stanford doesn’t win, that will be bad.
Finally, Stanford will conclude the regular season with a road match at Cal on Thursday, October 30th at 3:00 PM PT on ACCN. The Golden Bears went 13-6-2 overall and 5-4-1 in the ACC last season, getting a 3-2 win at Stanford to end the regular season before losing in the second round of the NCAA tournament to Arkansas. Cal is receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Poll and will be ready to get another win over their rival. This should be a fun match with a lot on the line in terms of postseason implications.
Following the match against Cal, Stanford will presumably have the NCAA tournament and possibly ACC tournament (if they are one of the six teams to qualify). Stanford did not make the ACC tournament last year, so we’ll just have to see if they are able to do so this year. If they could make the ACC tournament, that would help their NCAA tournament seed a bit.
As for the schedule as a whole, it’s a strong schedule that Stanford has. The ACC is a deep league and they also are facing quality competition in the non-conference portion of the season. It should be fun to see how the Cardinal do and whether or not they’ll be able to make another deep run to the Final Four, which will be held in Kansas City.
