Barcelona in talks with Aston Villa over Hector Fort transfer

A new club is in the mix

Premier League side Aston Villa have reportedly emerged as admirers of Hector Fort who looks destined to leave Barcelona before the end of the transfer window.

Real Mallorca had been linked with a move for Fort but Villa are also keen, according to reporter Matteo Moretto.

The two clubs are now holding initial talks over a potential move to Villa Park to play for Unai Emery’s side.

Fort had initially been tipped to stay at Barcelona, but it seems that Hansi Flick has since decided that Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia will be his right-back options for the coming campaign.

There aren’t too many details about the deal and whether Barcelona and Villa are looking at a season-long loan or a permanent transfer for the 19-year-old.

Villa finished in sixth place in the Premier League last season, meaning they have Europa League football to offer Fort.

The young defender could also ask new signing Marcus Rashford for advice on the potential transfer, as the forward spent the second half of last season on loan at Villa Park from Manchester United.
