Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has been presented with the perfect opportunity to revitalise his career under Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini. But will he be wise enough to seize it?

The 25-year-old spent the last 18 months on loan between Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea, and he now finds himself an outcast at Carrington, as Ruben Amorim has no desire to reinstate him in his plans.

Earlier this summer, Sancho was a main target for Juventus. But after weeks of negotiations, the Italian giants preferred to buy Francisco Conceicao, whom they had hosted on loan in the previous campaign, leaving the Englishman high and dry.

Luckily for the London native, he still has a few suitors interested in services, and chief among them are Roma who are now pushing for a deal, as confirmed by Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Roma offer Sancho escape rope from Man United troubles

The source confirms that positive talks were held on Friday between Roma and Sancho, but the player’s hefty salary remains the biggest stumbling block.

For the player’s sake, we can only hope that those around him will advise him to make the best choice for his career and join the Italian capital side, even if it means chopping off a considerable part of his salary.

At this crucial stage of his career, Sancho must take a deep look in the mirror and realise that his career has been gradually sinking into mediocrity since joining Man Utd in 2021. That is four years of largely underwhelming displays.

At the age of 25, this could be a do-or-die season for the England international.

Therefore, instead of lingering on the sidelines at Carrington just for the sake of a lucrative paycheck or accepting Turkiye or Saudi Arabia as his next destination, Sancho has the opportunity to revive his career under Gian Piero Gasperini, who has made a habit out of rectifying the career trajectories of lost talents.

Why Sancho MUST pounce on the opportunity to join Roma & Gasperini

The 67-year-old earned worldwide fame thanks to his historic nine-year tenure at Atalanta. During his run in Bergamo, the ‘amazing’ head coach rescued the likes of Charles De Ketelaere, Sead Kolasinac, Duvan Zapata, Ademola Lookman, Davide Zappacosta and Josip Ilicic from oblivion, helping them fulfil the early promise they had been struggling to fulfil.

Moreover, Roma are crying out for a left attacking midfielder/winger, as most of their attackers (Paulo Dybala, Matias Soule, Tommaso Baldanzi…) are left-footed and thus prefer to play on the right side, and the same applies to Leon Bailey, who is on his way to sealing a move from Aston Villa.

Therefore, Sancho’s road to redemption must start with a trip to the Eternal City. But like so many Roman success tales, it must begin with a significant sacrifice.
