Ibrahima Konate is one of the players on Real Madrid’s radar heading into the final phase of the summer transfer window.
Initially, he was being targeted for next year, when his contract with Liverpool expires. However, with concerns about the current defensive roster, Real Madrid could move for him this summer itself if the English chaampions decide to put him up for sale.
Liverpool ask €40 million for Konate
Now, according to reports in England, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, if Konate does not renew his contract, Liverpool will put him on the market this summer for around €40.5 million.
That figure is far higher than what Real Madrid are prepared to pay for the French centre-back at this stage. The Spanish heavyweights would be willing to pay, at most, €25 million for a player who would be free next year.

Liverpool are not particularly inclined towards selling Konate. The Merseysiders are attempting to secure his renewal, but so far all efforts have failed.
The 26-year-old Frenchman currently earns €81,000 per week and has requested that figure be increased to more than €230,000-a-week. These demands are not being accepted by Liverpool, which is where a window of opportunity opens for Real Madrid.
There have already been claims that the Frenchman and Real Madrid may already have reached an agreement for next season.
But should Liverpool decide to put Konate on the market right away, Los Blancos could make a move, although they would be unwilling to meet the €40.5 million price the Reds are demanding.
