Oklahoma State football will honor receiving great Justin Blackmon again this season, with Blackmon being added to the program’s Ring of Honor.
On Friday the @CowboyFB X account shared the themes for each home game on the slate this season. Blackmon’s addition to the Ring of Honor will happen when the Cowboys host Kansas State on November 15th. The theme for that game is Salute to Service, which often includes a military-themed uniform variant.
It will be the second season in a row that the program has honored Blackmon. Last season, his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame was a part of the home game against Arizona State. He was previously inducted to the Oklahoma State athletics Hall of Honor in 2023.
Blackmon’s name will join Thurman Thomas, Barry Sanders, Bob Fenimore and Leslie O’Neal on the ring inside Boone Pickens Stadium.
The themes for other home games this season are: Throwback Thursday for the season- and home opener vs. UT-Martin on August 28th. Blackout BPS for the Friday, September 19th game against Tulsa, featuring a t-shirt giveaway. Games move to Saturday’s for the rest of the season and the theme for the September 27th game with Baylor is Big 12 Tour to kick off conference play. On October 11th, the theme is Roots & Boots for the conference game against Houston. America’s Greatest Homecoming is set for the following weekend, when OSU hosts Cincinnati.
Salute to Service and Blackmon’s ceremony follow Homecoming on the schedule, and the 2025 season will wrap up with Senior Day on November 29th when the Pokes host Iowa State.
Blackmon served up what is arguably the best two-season performance by a receiver in college football history in 2010 and 2011. His 1,782 yards in 2010 set the record for receiving yards by a sophomore, and he holds two records for a 14-game stretch, where he had at least 100 yards in each game, and then 100 receiving yards and a touchdown. He became only the second player in CFB history to win the Biletnikoff Award twice.
