The Houston Texans are reportedly trading WR John Metchie III to the Philadelphia Eagles, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Metchie spent the last three seasons with the Texans.

The Eagles weren’t the only team interested in the deep threat. Jordan Schultz reported the San Francisco 49ers were in on Metchie but the Eagles had a better offer.

Over the course of his career, Metchie has 40 catches for 415 yards, one touchdown and 10.4 yards per catch. He did not play in 2022 due to acute promyelocytic leukemia. Remarkably, Metchie recovered after he was drafted out of Alabama.

After reeling in 16 catches in 16 games in 2023, Metchie improve his stat line last season. He reeled in 24 passes for 257 yards and caught his first career touchdown.
