It’s no secret that Liverpool are hoping to add Alexander Isak to their squad before the end of the transfer window.

Sporting director Richard Hughes had an initial approach rejected for the forward by Newcastle - with that bid said to be in the region of £110m.

Newcastle value their forward at around £150m - but Liverpool could end up doing a deal at £135m. The sooner this deal is wrapped up the better it will be for all sides.

Their manager Eddie Howe will need to bed in a new striker as soon as possible with Isak effectively AWOL as he waits for his dream ticket to Anfield.

Isak rejects Newcastle

Isak has rejected Newcastle’s attempts to tie him down to a new contract - expressing his wish to move on instead. He scored 23 goals in the Premier League last season but looks like he has played his final game in a black and white shirt.

Liverpool will be hoping for a speedy resolution and already have got their No9 shirt vacant following Darwin Nunez’s transfer to Al-Hilal.

The Reds will play against Newcastle next Monday at St. James’ Park - and it has the potential to be a grudge fixture even if Isak’s deal isn’t done by then.

Gordon warns against WILD atmosphere

That’s according to Anthony Gordon, the Newcastle forward, who delivered a warning to Liverpool ahead of the game.

"With everything that's gone on, the atmosphere will be wild,” the England winger told TNT Sports after Newcastle’s 0-0 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday.
