The Los Angeles Rams should make a move for another quarterback as insurance

The Los Angeles Rams quarterback situation gets more and more nerve-racking by the day. Matthew Stafford's back injury continues to have more and more layers added to it. He was expected to practice last Monday, but has still yet to take the practice field.

These lingering issues with Stafford leave the Rams with Jimmy Garoppolo and Stetson Bennett as the other two quarterbacks. And while the Rams reportedly believe in Garoppolo, Bennett as the only remaining reinforcement doesn't bode a lot of confidence, despite is terrific play this preseason. This is why the Rams should make a trade for another signal-caller.

Los Angeles Chargers backup quarterback Trey Lance has looked very good this preseason. And while it has largely been with his legs, he brings versatility and athleticism that Bennett doesn't. Through three preseason games, Lance has three total touchdowns (two passing, one rushing).

Lance and Garoppolo notoriously battled for the starting quarterback job in 2022. However, a season-ending injury to Lance early in the season thrusted Garoppolo back in action before he was lost for the season and then some guy named Brock Purdy became the starter and the rest is history.
