MM 8.29: Maryland cross country to begin season Friday

This is the Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.

Maryland cross country is set to begin its 2025 season Friday. The opener will take place in Leesburg, Virginia, hosted by New Balance at Morven Park.

The Terps are once again headlined by junior Rose Coats and sophomore Eva Rogers. Coats was recently selected to the Big Ten Runners to Watch list. In 2024, she became just the sixth-ever Terp to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

In total, eight members from last year’s team are returning, with eight newcomers are set to make their debuts for Maryland. Last year, the Terps finished 15th at the Big Ten Championships.

The team will compete in four races before Big Ten Championships on Oct. 31.
