Just like old times.
Browns' QB connection rekindled between Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield, Jets' Tyrod Taylor originally appeared on The Sporting News
Baker Mayfield took time in his press conference this week to clarify to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' beat reporters just how Tyrod Taylor's name is pronounced.
Taylor and the New York Jets have traveled to Florida this week to take on the Bucs. The Jets are without starting QB Justin Fields due to a concussion, so Taylor gets the start.
And Mayfield and Taylor are old friends.
Mayfield entered the league as the No. 1 overall pick of the Browns when Taylor was already in town.
It was in Week 3 of 2018 that the torch was passed from Taylor to Mayfield in Cleveland.
Things could've been oh-so different.
Mayfield led the Browns to the playoffs, and to a playoff win.
Even Taylor has remained a quality NFL backup.
And in the meantime, the Browns have been in a quarterback nightmare from the moment they chose Deshaun Watson over Mayfield.
Browns fans likely won't get a chance to watch this matchup on Sunday. They'll be tuned in to Joe Flacco getting sacked by the Packers and Micah Parsons.
But down in the Florida sunshine, Mayfield and Taylor will likely share a few moments on the field pregame, and then they'll compete their tails off to get a win over the other. It's a cool reunion, far from northeast Ohio.
