Who’s in and who’s out ahead of Jaguars vs Texans in Week 3
The Jacksonville Jaguars will be kicking off against the Houston Texans in less than 90 minutes.
OL Wyatt Milum is being held out due to a knee injury, while DT Khalen Saunders Sr., DL Danny Striggow, DL B.J. Green II, S Kahlef Hailassie, and RB Cody Schrader are healthy scratches.
WR Brian Thomas Jr. was limited in Thursday’s practice with a wrist injury. Coach Liam Coen said he “had a better week in terms of the way we were trying to connect. So, excited about his op this weekend.”
Other active players who carried an injury designation are active CB Jarrian Jones (back), TE Hunter Long (ankle), RB Bhayshul Tuten (shoulder), OL Ezra Cleveland (ankle), and CB Montaric “Buster” Brown (ankle).
It will be the first game of the season for Brown, who started 10 games last year. Defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile said this week, “Buster had a great spring for us … anytime you get a really good player back, it’s a shot in the arm for the defense. I think Buster is a really good player. He is a detailed guy, physical, I think he’s got good line of scrimmage skills, so I think it will help us.”
Campanile said of Maason Smith, who is active again after being a healthy scratch in Week 1: “I thought he did a good job overall, you know, with the reps that was in. He played detailed. I thought he played really hard.”
Meanwhile, the Texans will be without CB Jaylin Smith (hamstring), WR Braxton Berrios (hamstring), and DE Darrell Taylor (hip). QB Graham Mertz, RB Dameon Pierce, RB British Brooks, OT Blake Fisher, and TE Brendan Bates are healthy scratches.
Former Jaguars WR Christian Kirk (hamstring), CB Kamari Lassiter (knee), S Jalen Pitre (rib), and C Jake Andrews (ankle) are active.
Let’s play some football!
