It's a good time to be a Cincinnati baseball fan.

The Cincinnati Reds are making it happen.

A week ago, it looked like the Reds may not have quite enough to make up multiple spots in their chase for the NL Wild Card's third and final spot.

But by Sunday night, the Reds had rattled off four wins in a row and moved into that position. They're ahead of the New York Mets and control their own destiny going forward.

Sunday's game required a 1-0 win with Andrew Abbott on the mound and the Reds holding the Chicago Cubs entirely scoreless.

The sweep of the Cubs over four games was everything Cincy could've ever asked for.

Earlier in the series, Elly De La Cruz broke his home run drought. Before that, he hadn't gone deep since July 31.

And around that, the Reds showed what their starting pitching and bullpen can do.

It's often arms in a groove that can make all the difference this time of year.

And you don't complete a series sweep of the Cubs with a 1-0 win without pitching that's absolutely locked in.

There's still a week to go. The Reds could still let this slip away.

But right now, Cincinnati controls its fate, and that's a great thing.
