‘He’s a dangerous fighter’: Vergil Ortiz not looking past Erickson Lubin

Vergil Ortiz takes home court against Erickson Lubin when they square off in Fort Worth.

Vergil Ortiz takes on Erickson Lubin in what should prove to be a good matchup.

Golden Boy promotions hosted the opening press conference for the Nov. 11 fight between Vergil Ortiz vs Erickson Lubin, headlining in Fort Worth, Texas. Speaking to the public about the fight, Lubin made it clear he’ll be looking to silence the crowd in hostile territory.

“I fought for the world title in just my third year, this is my 12th year as a pro,” Lubin said. “I took no steps back, I fought top opposition after top opposition and Vergil Ortiz is no different. This is my third undefeated fighter in a row and I’m looking to just become, you know, that dude at 154 lbs.

“I make no predictions. I know it’s going to be a great fight and all that matters is me walking out of the Dickies Arena with my hands raised and the fans silent.”

Vergil Ortiz would then get a chance to speak about this fight against Lubin.

“He’s a dangerous fighter because he has intellect, he has experience, he has power.” Ortiz said of Lubin. “He likes to fight. I’ve seen his fights before, he legitimately goes in there to fight people and I respect that about him. But he’s also a smart fighter as well so when you have both of those in the equation, that’s how you have a dangerous fighter.”
