Key Oregon commit '100 percent locked in' after visit

The Oregon Ducks have a top-10 class nationally, but the group is No. 1 in terms of "rating per commit."

So, it will be incredibly important to keep that nucleus together through the final push toward December's early signing period.

Archbishop Riordan (California) four-star offensive lineman Tommy Tofi flipped his commitment from Cal to Oregon in July and visited Oregon over the weekend for the Civil War.

It's safe to say the trip went well.

"My visit to Oregon was amazing," Tofi said. "They always welcome my family and I with open arms. What stood out to me this year about this team is, despite losing a lot of players due to injuries and the draft, it looks like it doesn't affect them at all. Skills position and the trenches all looked like they stepped up from last year and ready to make a run for the Natty this year."

While Cal is off to a red-hot start, the 6-foot-6, 330-pound lineman said he's all-in on a future in Eugene.

"I still have a great relationship with Cal, but I built a three-year relationship with the entire Oregon coaching staff," Tofi said. "I've got to know more and more about them on and off the field, and that is why I’m 100 percent locked in with Oregon and I shut down my whole recruitment."

That's music to Oregon's ears, as Tofi is rated the nation's No. 64 overall prospect and No. 5 interior offensive lineman.

But that ranking is a bit misleading, as Tofi has the potential to aid the depth chart at tackle, guard or even center at the college level.

"Oregon told me they really like my versatility and they can see me used across the line, but they specifically want me at tackle," he said. "But if there’s any problems around the line, I am ready to play that position if they need me to."

Oregon has a good one in Tofi - and he's locked in, especially after yet another home-run visit.
