Buccaneers top of the pile in latest power rankings?

Are the Buccaneers the best team in the NFC?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have started the season exactly how we thought they would, winning football games, but it has been the manner in which they have won that has been surprising.

In each game, Baker Mayfield has had to lead a game-winning drive with time expiring in the fourth quarter to seal the wins. That isn't a sustainable model, but it is one that the Buccaneers have been forced to use.

Now sitting at 3-0 after a 29-27 win over the New York Jets that saw Aaron Glenn's team nearly snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, the Buccaneers, in Pete Prisco's latest power rankings for CBS Sports, come in high, at No. 3.

"The injuries have been many for this team, but they've overcome them so far," Prisco wrote. "The biggest test will be the Eagles this week."

Are Buccaneers best team in the NFC?

While having the Buccaneers at No. 3 is certainly a tip of the cap to Todd Bowles and his team, it is also worth noting that Tampa, going by Prisco's ranking, is the second-best team in the NFC.

Only the Philadelphia Eagles are higher, and who does Tampa Bay play in Week 4? Yeah, you guessed it.

Given how the Detroit Lions bullied the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football (yes, bullied), Dan Campbell's team deserves a mention, so too the Green Bay Packers, but it is the Buccaneers who have leap-frogged them all.

No. 3 is quite high, and if they can slay the Eagles on Sunday, and move to 4-0 while handing Philadelphia their first loss of the season, who knows, maybe Baker's Bucs might just be top of the pile entering Week 5.
