Coventry City and Birmingham City go head-to-head at The Coventry Building Society Arena this Saturday in the EFL Championship. The match will be broadcast live at 12:30 on Sky Sports Football.

Coventry City currently have 10 points and lie in 6th position. In their last outing, Frank Lampard's team drew 0-0 against Leicester City (EFL Championship 2025/26).

Birmingham City have won 10 points to date and are placed in 8th position. In their last game, Chris Davies's team won 1-0 against Swansea City (EFL Championship 2025/26).

The last meeting between the two teams ended with Birmingham City winning 3-0.

The Fan Zone

Ross Cooper(SkyBlues Extra): Another local derby this weekend as we welcome Birmingham City to the CBS Arena this weekend for the 12.30 kick off.

We remain unbeaten this season in the Championship with 4 draws and 2 wins so far. After a good point out last weekend away at Leicester it is important that we back up that result with a home win against Birmingham City.

It is going to be a very tough game and potentially a fiesty one as it feels like the intensity of matches between the two clubs has certainly increased over recent seasons, possibly ever since we ground shared at St Andrews with Birmingham.

We have scored a lot of goals so far this season and are the top scorers in the league with 15 goals scored, but we have also had two goalless draws so far this season.

Our home form has been alright so far, 3 games (1 win and 2 draws) and we need to start winning again at home to increase our momentum as we look ahead to a 3 game week before the next international break.

The biggest positive last weekend was the performance of Carl Rushworth who was given the Man of The Match Award and was easily his most complete performance so far since his arrival at the club. There was a marked improvement in the coherence between him and our defence which bodes well going into this weekend.

Going forward it is clear we have real threat, but last weekend the final decision or execution of the final ball just wasn't quite there but we will be looking to get back to the ruthless nature that saw us put QPR and Derby to the sword not that long ago.

A lot of focus is on Haji Wright, and rightly so, Frank Lampard has given him the central striker role and has backed him and there has been a marked improvement in elements of his game and him staying consistent is key to our success this weekend and beyond.

Prediction: 2-0

George Revell (Blues Focus): Birmingham City head to Coventry City on Saturday lunchtime having failed to find the net in their last two away matches.

Blues will face Frank Lampard’s side buoyed by their late win over Swansea City last weekend but a very tough challenge awaits.

Apart from scoring a 98th-minute winner to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory at Blackburn Rovers last month, Blues have drawn a blank on the road this season - and Coventry haven’t exactly struggled at home.

The Sky Blues have accumulated seven points out of a possible nine at the CBS Arena to start their Championship campaign, recording two wins - including a 7-1 annihilation of QPR - and a draw.

And Blues have struggled on the road against them recently, too. They’ve lost the last two meetings two-nil and haven’t scored in their last four trips to the CBS.

In fact, Blues haven’t beaten Coventry away from home since 2006.

It certainly feels like a case of any points that Blues do take from Coventry would be very positive ones.

Blues can win on Saturday if they get it right, but there is no doubt that it will be a rather stern test.

Prediction: 1-1
