The live fans booed after a terrible botch ruined the ending of SmackDown’s main event title match.
The main event of tonight’s (Sept. 26) episode of SmackDown featured WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton defending the gold against Jade Cargill and Nia Jax in a triple threat match.
One of the stories going into this match is that Stratton is the only WWE wrestler on Raw or SmackDown who is still undefeated in 2025. It looked like her streak was about to go up in smoke when Cargill hit her with the Jaded finisher late in the bout, but Jax broke up the pin attempt. Cargill was pissed off after being busted open, and she took it out on Jax by taking her out with a Samoan drop on the steel steps.
Cargill then tried to pin Jax in the ring after hitting her with Eye of the Storm. Stratton ran back in to break up the pin with a dropkick. Stratton immediately tried to steal Cargill’s pin on Jax. The ref started to count the pin, but something clearly went wrong as she called it a two count even though Jax didn’t kick out.
They were all awkwardly talking in the ring trying to figure out an audible as boos grew louder from the live fans. Moments later Stratton nailed Jax with the Prettiest Moonsault Ever to score the pin and retain her championship.
Stratton will now put her undefeated streak on the line when she faces Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer for the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship on October 11 in Australia.
