Kickoff at Folsom Field is coming up shortly at Folsom Field, and the Buffs are entering their matchup with BYU banged up. 11 Buffs will miss action against the Cougs, with an additional player missing the first half due to suspension.
On the defensive side of the football, the Buffs will be missing plenty of impact players, particularly in the secondary. Cornerback RJ Johnson and safety Terrance Love will be out tonight due to injury. Both Johnson and Love have seen the field plenty for the Buffs this season, so their absence should affect the personnel we see in the secondary. Additionally, depth pieces CB Noah King and S TJ Branch are also out due to injury.
It’ll be the same story for CU’s defensive line, as three players will sit to nurse injuries. EDGE Sam Okunlola and DTs Tawfiq Thomas and Gavriel Lightfoot won’t play against BYU tonight. DT Anquin Barnes will also have to sit for the first half of the game after being ejected for targeting last Saturday, but will be eligible to play in the second half. All these guys have been big members of the Buffs’ rotation up front, so defensive coordinator Robert Livingston will need his guys to step up with the hit to the unit’s depth tonight.
On the offensive side of the ball, Colorado will be operating without their two most productive running backs: DeKalon Taylor and Simeon Price. In their absence, expect the offense to feed Micah Welch and Dallan Hayden. Outside of that, CU’s other skill players will be healthy and active in tonight’s game.
For some good news, star offensive lineman Jordan Seaton is not listed on CU’s injury report after getting banged up against Wyoming last weekend, indicating he should be good to go tonight. The only offensive lineman who’s out tonight will be depth piece Phillip Houston.
OL Mana Taimani and WR Terrell Timmons are listed as game-time decisions.
