Oregon Ducks among national title betting favorites after crucial Week 5 victory

After winning the biggest game of their regular season schedule, the Ducks leapt over several teams in the national title odds.

Through four games, the Oregon Ducks had yet to match up with anyone close to their skill level. And the results showed it, as they won by an average of 41.5 points. While, for the most part, they were excellent in each game, there wasn't a ton to be taken away until Week 5.

That was when they were scheduled to travel to Penn State to take on the Nittany Lions, a top five team in the AP Poll. The fact that Penn State, with a stadium capacity of over 100,000-plus, had scheduled their yearly "whiteout" game against Oregon only raised the anticipation level. Nearly every question that anyone had about the Ducks' dominant start would be answered on Saturday evening.

That was the feeling before the game, and it was proved true. Both the Ducks and Nittany Lions had their moments, coming back from the opposing team making a crucial run to go on a run of their own. But in the end, Oregon prevailed in double overtime with a 30-24 victory, proving to the nation that they're legit national title contenders.

Where does that leave them in the national title odds after Week 5? Let's check it out.
