After receiving over 55% of the vote in last week's poll, New Berlin Eisenhower's Cole Clevenstine wins Piggly Wiggly athlete of the week honors.
Cole Clevenstine of New Berlin Eisenhower boys soccer was the winner of last week’s Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Piggly Wiggly high school athlete of the week poll for Sept. 22 through Sept. 27.
The senior midfielder excelled to take home athlete of the week honors, tallying five goals and two assists in victories over Waukesha North and Menomonee Falls the previous week. Against the Northstars, the leading goal scorer in the Woodland (West) Conference recorded a hat trick and an assist in a 5-1 win on Monday, Sept. 15, and then went on to record two goals and an assist in a 6-1 victory over Falls on Sept. 18.
Clevenstine received 43,006 of 77,508 total votes cast.
Kobe Hendricks of Slinger football was the runner-up of last week's poll after he ran 30 times for an area-high 292 yards and four touchdowns for the defending WIAA Division 2 state champions in a 41-33 victory for the Owls over Nicolet on Sept. 19.
Other nominees in the poll were Maddie Brown of Divine Savior Holy Angels girls volleyball, Abbie Welch of Brookfield Central girls golf and Ella Antoniewski of Waukesha South/Mukwonago girls swimming and diving.
