It’s congested as expected in the NFC West.
At the quarter(ish) mark of the 2025 NFL season, the NFC West appears to be as dangerous as advertised. No team is below .500 and it’s the only division in which three teams have winning records. The Seattle Seahawks got a little bit of a boost in Week 4 thanks to the Jacksonville Jaguars knocking off the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara. It would’ve been great if AD Mitchell didn’t just about singlehandedly lose the game for the Indianapolis Colts against the Los Angeles Rams, but you take what you can get.
Also, the Colts should try playing with 11 guys on the field when defending a game-winning drive.
Only the Rams have yet to play a division game, but hat will soon change this Thursday against a banged up 49ers team that produced zero sacks on Trevor Lawrence and gave up over 100 yards rushing to Travis Etienne Jr. Nick Bosa’s absence was very clearly felt on Sunday, while Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall both got hurt on offense. Brock Purdy came back from his own injury and turned it over three times.
Here’s a quick glance at the standings following September’s slate:
NFC West standings
1.) San Francisco 49ers (3-1, 1-0 DIV, H2H vs. SEA)
2.) Seattle Seahawks (3-1, 1-1 DIV)
3.) Los Angeles Rams (3-1, 0-0 DIV)
4.) Arizona Cardinals (2-2, 0-2 DIV)
Week 5 schedule
Seattle Seahawks vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Los Angeles Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers (TNF)
Arizona Cardinals vs. Tennessee Titans
Unless Arizona is mentally broken from consecutive walk-off defeats, it’s highly likely that every NFC West team will enter Week 6 above .500. I wouldn’t worry about sole possession of first place or anything like that this early in the season; we’ve been burned by that before.
Buckle up, because this looks like it’s going to be another adventurous division title battle.
