Troy Aikman disagrees after Bengals center Ted Karras called for false start vs Broncos

Center Ted Karras is in his 10th NFL season, fourth with the Bengals.

Cincinnati Bengals center Ted Karras had a crucial false-start penalty during the first quarter of the team's NFL Week 4 game against the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High on ABC's Monday Night Football.

"I don't agree with that call at all," Monday Night Football analyst Troy Aikman said. "I didn't see much there as far as him trying to draw the defense off. ... That was a big call. And I don't think Cincinnati had any intentions of snapping the ball at all."

Rules analyst Russell Yurk explained that there's an emphasis on keeping centers from making abrupt movements to try to draw the defense offsides.

The Bengals left their offense on the field for 4th down. After Karras' penalty, Cincinnati opted to punt.

Karras is in his 10th NFL season, fourth with the Bengals. He agreed to a one-year contract extension with the team just days before the start of the regular season.

Karras hasn't missed a game since coming to Cincinnati before the 2022 season. He was the Bengals' Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee in 2023.

Before joining the Bengals, Karras played five seasons with the New England Patriots and one season with the Miami Dolphins.

Karras is under contract with the Bengals through the 2025 season.
