Godwin is impressed.
Buccaneers' Chris Godwin gives unbelievable scouting report on Emeka Ebguka originally appeared on The Sporting News
The life of an NFL rookie isn't easy, but some make it look so, with Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Emeka Egbuka adjusting to life in the pros with ease.
Much was made of Emeka's intelligence in training camp, particularly his understanding of the playbook, routes, timing, and everything in between, which earned him praise from veterans like Mike Evans.
And through four weeks, Egbuka has been in good form, posting 60+ yards in three games, while hauling in four touchdowns and having at least four receptions per game.
His best outing came in Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles as he posted 101 yards and a touchdown in the 31-25 loss, and his performance garnered serious praise from fellow receiver Chris Godwin.
“He's one of a kind,” Godwin said. “Definitely one of the more mature and pro-ready rookies that I've ever been around. He's been a great addition to our room. You see what he can do on the field, he makes unbelievable plays. He has all the tools that you need to be a great pro. He has the speed, the playmaking ability, he has the mental capacity to understand the offense at all the positions. He's unselfish.
"He has a really bright future ahead of him.”

Egbuka proving to be right pick
Heading into the draft, many thought the Buccaneers would look to draft a linebacker in the first round, given that Lavonte David is getting on in age, but general manager Jason Licht and head coach Todd Bowles went in a different direction.
And that direction led them to Egbuka.
Given the injuries to Godwin and now Mike Evans, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, having another top weapon to step up, and so far, Egbuka has been as advertised.
With Baker Mayfield now developing trust and confidence in his rookie, we imagine Emeka will see a lot more balls coming in his direction as he gets receptions on short, intermediate, and deep routes, which makes him a nightmare to cover.
As far as Godwin's "one of a kind" statement, yeah, I'll let the cake bake on that.
