Are Chiefs top dogs in latest power rankings after Ravens mauling? originally appeared on The Sporting News

The Kansas City Chiefs have reminded everyone not to write them off when it comes to making the playoffs and having a genuine shot at the Super Bowl.

Granted, two weeks ago, many were jumping off the Chiefs bandwagon, and now two weeks on, many are jumping back on. A lot of that has to do with the 37-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens as the Chiefs looked like "the Chiefs" again, with Patrick Mahomes and Co. slicing up a poor Ravens defense.

But was the win enough to see Andy Reid's team climb in Eric Edholm's power rankings for NFL.com?

As it turns out, yes, moving up two spots from No. 11 to No. 9

“It wasn't hard to see the Xavier Worthy effect on this offense in Kansas City's 37-20 win over Baltimore,” Edholm wrote. “At 2-2, Andy Reid and Co. aren't out of the woods yet, but this game announced they're not going anywhere.”

Chiefs face defining five-week stretch

Many are asking if the Chiefs are "back," and at 2-2, it might seem like it after the Ravens win, but the next stretch of games before their bye will really tell us.

The Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions, Las Vegas Raiders, Washington Commanders, and the Buffalo Bills are on the schedule, with three Super Bowl-contending teams amongst that group.

Rashee Rice will be back in Week 7 against the Raiders, so the Chiefs will have to contend with the Lions with the offense they have.

The Ravens showing proved that the old Chiefs are still in there, but we need more than one game to definitively say the AFC champs are back.

But get to the bye above .500, and then we can really have a conversation.
