Former Denver Broncos running back Blake Watson, a player many fans had high hopes for, has a new team, agreeing to a deal with the Tennessee Titans to join their practice squad.
Watson was an undrafted free-agent signing by the Broncos in 2024 and spent much of the season on the team's practice squad, though he was elevated to the main roster for two games, carrying the ball four times for 10 yards and catching one pass for 13 yards.
This summer, he looked like a candidate to make the 53-man roster as the Broncos had a competitive group at the running back position, but he was waived with an injury settlement after hurting his knee in the final preseason game.
It was rumored that the Broncos were interested in bringing him back to the practice squad, but because of that injury settlement, they would have had to wait until Week 7 to do so. Healthy now, Watson didn't want to wait if another team was willing to sign him sooner and that has happened.

Watson played at Memphis in college, so going to Tennessee makes sense. It's also a place where he could get a quick opportunity to play, as Tony Pollard and Julius Chestnut are the only running backs on the 53-man roster, and Jordan Mims is the only other running back on the practice squad.
Watson was considered to be one of the best undrafted players available following the 2024 draft and there was a chance for him to become a valuable piece of the roster in Denver; circumstances just wouldn't allow for that. Now, he gets a new chance to shine.
