Top 75 fantasy football PPR RBs for Week 5

Chet Gresham takes us through the top 75 PPR running backs for Week 5

We’re already to Week 5 of the fantasy football season. But before we look ahead, let’s take a look at some of the Week 4 surprises. Your RB3 and RB4 for the week were none other than Kenny Gainwell and Justice Hill , while your top two were rookie Ashton Jeanty and veteran Josh Jacobs. Jeanty wouldn’t be a surprise if we told you he’d be No. 1 in Week 4 in fantasy, but after a slow start to the season, it was a surprise and good to see. Hill took over with the Ravens falling behind and losing Lamar Jackson in the third quarter. It was a bit of a perfect storm, as he went over 110 total yards and scored two touchdowns. Gainwell got the start in Dublin with Jaylen Warren a late scratch, but putting up 134 total yards and two touchdowns wasn’t on many bingo cards.

Week 5 byes

Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers

Running backs on bye

De’Andre Swift, Bijan Robinson, Tyler Algeier, Josh Jacobs, Jaylen Warren, Kenny Gainwell

RB injuries

Bucky Irving, Buccaneers

Irving is coming off his best fantasy game of the year, but there is now concern for his health. Unfortunately, at this time we don’t know what his injury is. Head coach Todd Bowles did tell reporters there is concern and he is getting an MRI. If he can’t go this week against the Seahawks, Rachaad White and Sean Tucker would get bumps in their work.

Trey Benson, Cardinals

Benson was listed as not practicing in the Cardinals initial walkthrough, while the team signed Michael Carter to the 53-man roster. At this point all of this could be nothing, but if you are relying on Benson it is worth looking at alternatives just in case.

Braelon Allen, Jets

Allen is likely going to be placed on IR with a PCL sprain. If so, that takes him out at least four weeks and helps elevate Breece Hall’s workload, especially around the goal line.

Woody Marks, Texans vs. Ravens

Marks led Nick Chubb in snaps, attempts, yards, touchdowns, targets, and receptions last week as the two split time. This week they face a Ravens team that has been beat by the run consistently this year. They currently rank last in fantasy points allowed to the position, while the analytics agree with just how bad they’ve been.

Rachaad White, Buccaneers vs. Seahawks

This suggestion relies on Bucky Irving missing this game with a currently undisclosed injury. There isn’t much information at this point, but he is getting an MRI and it at least sounds worrisome. Sean Tucker would also have a chance fo starting, but I expect the team trusts White a bit more, especially in pass protection. The matchup isn’t great, but the Bucs have a good offense and White would see extra work.
