Congratulations to Bijan Robinson and Xavier Watts for this well-deserved recognition!
The Falcons are sitting at 2-2 and are currently enjoying their bye week, so it’s kind of quiet around The Falcoholic. But we’ve got something to celebrate today, as the team announced that Bijan Robinson and Xavier Watts both received awards for their play over the first month of the season.
Robinson was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for September. From the Falcons:
Through the first four weeks, Robinson logged 64 carries for 314 yards and one touchdown, along with 18 receptions for 270 yards and one touchdown. Robinson leads the NFL in total yards from scrimmage with 584 and has the second most yards from scrimmage through four games in franchise history, trailing William Andrews in 1983 (590). He is the only player in the NFL to rank in the top 20 in both rushing and receiving yards.
In the Week 4 victory over the Commanders, Robinson hit career highs in receiving yards (196) and total yards from scrimmage (181). His 181 scrimmage yards marked his 10th straight game with at least 90 scrimmage yards, the longest active streak in the NFL, and his 22nd career game with at least 100 yards from scrimmage, a number that leads the NFL since he joined the league in 2023. Robinson is the only running back to have recorded 100 receiving yards in multiple games since 2023, doing so three times including and twice in September.
This marks Robinson’s first player of the month award. He is the first Falcon to win Player of the Month honors since kicker Younghoe Koo in 2023 for the months of December and January.
Watts has been a rookie standout so far this season, and it’s fantastic to see one of these rookies get recognized in this way. From the team on Watts:
Watts leads all rookies through four games in interceptions (two) and solo tackles (17), along with tying for the rookie lead in passes defensed (four). Watts is the only rookie to record multiple interceptions this season, with his first pick coming in the fourth quarter to seal Atlanta’s Week 2 win at Minnesota.
The Omaha, Neb., native is the first Falcons rookie with multiple interceptions since Deion Jones in 2016, and the first Atlanta rookie since 1980 (Kenny Johnson and Al Richardson) to record multiple interceptions within the first four games of a season.
Congratulations to Bijan and Watts on this well-deserved recognition!
