The Vermont women's hockey team opens with nationally ranked Penn State while the UVM men's squad hosts an exhibition to kick off 2025-26 season.
Hockey is back at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
The Vermont men's and women's hockey teams are gearing up for the 2025-26 season. The Catamount women play host to Penn State, ranked sixth in the country, for a two-game series on Friday, Oct. 3 and Saturday, Oct. 4, to kick off their regular season.
For the nightcap on Oct. 4, the Vermont men welcome Brock University for an exhibition contest at Gutterson Fieldhouse before they start their regular season at home vs. St. Lawrence on Friday, Oct. 10.
In Hockey East's coaches' preseason poll, the UVM women were picked to finish in a tie for seventh with Maine in the 10-team league. The UVM men are predicted to finish last out of 11 programs.
Last year, the UVM women went 9-25-2 and won their Hockey East first-round playoff matchup before falling in the quarterfinals in overtime to Boston University. The Catamount men posted a 11-21-3 mark last winter, losing to Massachusetts in the first round of league postseason play.
