Arne Slot has confirmed injury news ahead of Liverpool's trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea. It's the news the Reds needed.
Liverpool have had a difficult week, losing twice in a row. Crystal Palace scored a last-gasp winner to take three points at the weekend and then Galatasaray scored a dubious penalty to take three in the UEFA Champions League.
It's been a bit of a reality check for the Reds. They'd won every single game since the Community Shield up until that point, somehow coming away with three points even in games they underperformed in.
Eventually, things didn't go their way and now they're looking to recapture some form against Chelsea. The Blues will welcome them to Stamford Bridge while struggling themselves, leaving them there for a taking if Liverpool click things together.
Their best chance of doing that is with a full squad, of course. Liverpool won't have that, however, as Alisson Becker is out for the next few weeks after going off in Turkey.
Arne Slot did confirm some more positive news in his pre-match press conference on Friday, though.
Liverpool's injury concerns
Liverpool went into the meeting with Galatasaray with an injury concern as Federico Chiesa picked up a knock against Palace. That meant he stayed back on Merseyside and didn’t make the trip to Istanbul.
The Reds then suffered two injury blows during the match itself. The first was the aforementioned Alisson injury but then Hugo Ekitike was also forced off in the second half.
The striker claimed it was just bad cramp, rather than an injury, and it appears he was correct. Slot has given an update on both Ekitike and Chiesa, suggesting they’ll be ready for Saturday.
