The Buffalo Bills are known for having some of the best fans in the NFL, and come the 2026 season, the team and fanbase will have a new home.
Construction on the Bills’ new home, officially titled New Highmark Stadium, is on track for its planned opening in the Summer of 2026, promising a state-of-the-art replacement for the current 50-year-old venue. The project, estimated to cost over $2 billion, is being built directly across the street from the existing Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, and it is designed to maintain Buffalo’s legendary home-field advantage.

Bills new stadium capacity
The new stadium has a capacity of roughly 62,000, designed to be an intimate, intimidating "wall of support" for the home team.

It will be one of the league's smallest stadiums, dropping from the 71,608 capacity that the current Highmark Stadium has.

Bills new stadium location
The Bills' new stadium is adjacent to Erie Community College’s south campus, across the street from the existing Highmark Stadium, which will be demolished following the completion of the new venue.

It is being designed by Populous, which is repsonsible for twelve other active NFL stadiums, with which the new Orchard Park stadium will share numerous design elements and features.
The groundbreaking was in June 2023, with completion set for summer 2026.

The team finalized a new naming rights deal with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York to continue their partnership at the new venue. During construction, the project is often referred to as "New Highmark Stadium" to distinguish it from the Bills' current home across the street, which currently also carries the Highmark Stadium name. The decision to keep the name provides continuity for the franchise as it moves into its state-of-the-art facility.

When will Bills new stadium be ready?
New Highmark Stadium is expected to be ready for the start of the 2026 NFL season.
While construction is slated to achieve substantial completion by Summer 2026, internal reports suggest the final "punch list" items may not be fully finalized until December 2026. However, the Bills organization is contractually obligated to open the stadium in July 2026, when they are scheduled to receive the certificate of occupancy.
This means barring anything new, all 2026 home games will be in the in the new venue, even with minor construction work needed.
