Browns and Jets teams that drafted these quarterbacks would certainly trade back for this kind of quarterback play.
Turn away, Browns and Jets fans.
Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold squared off in Seattle in a Sunday afternoon thriller. Mayfield ultimately outdueled Darnold as the Bucs secured a 38-35 come-from behind win. Mayfield led the Bucs on a game-tying touchdown drive with 1:08 remaining.
Then a tough-luck Darnold interception set the Bucs up for a game-tying field goal as time expired. Darnold threw a pass that ricocheted off the helmet of a Bucs defender at the line of scrimmage and into the hands of Tampa Bay linebacker Lavonte David. The late turnover spoiled a four-touchdown day in which Darnold led the Seahawks to touchdowns on five consecutive possessions.
Fans of the Browns and Jets teams that drafted would surely relish the play of either quarterback. Instead, the former first-round castoffs continue to thrive in their new surroundings. The Bucs are now 4-1, while Darnold's Seahawks drop to 3-2 with the loss.
