Manchester United have had a mixed start to the new season but after victory over Sunderland at the weekend, they find themselves only three points off the top five.
After the international break, they have a massive tie against Liverpool at Anfield that might have a huge say on the team’s fortunes this season.
The Red Devils had a busy summer where they brought in Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens to bolster their squad.
The Peoples Person has held a poll asking fans to vote on who has been their Player of the Season to date and there is a clear response.
Bryan Mbeumo leads the way
46% of supporters who voted in the poll decided that new signing Mbeumo has been the standout player so far this season.
The Cameroon scored two goals in August against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup and Burnley in the Premier League.
He also put in impressive displays against Manchester City and Chelsea after the international break in September.
Mbeumo also grabbed an assist at the weekend, setting up Mason Mount in the 2-0 victory over Sunderland.
Matthijs de Ligt
The Dutch defender has had an incredibly impressive beginning to the season and 32% of fans think he has been the club’s best player so far.
He began the new campaign with a powerful display to shut down Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres and was also well on top against Chelsea at Old Trafford.
The centre back has been a model of consistency and a leader of the backline this season.
De Ligt is without doubt Ruben Amorim’s first name on his centre back list at the moment.
Bruno Fernandes
11% of pollsters voted for Bruno Fernandes as the club’s player of the season to date.
For his own incredibly high standards, he has had a mixed time of it so far. He scored a late winner versus Burnley and also a crucial goal against Chelsea.
Nonetheless, he also missed two vital penalties against Fulham and Brentford that could have dramatically swayed the outcome of both games.
Leny Yoro
7% of fans believe that the young Frenchman has been the club’s top performer thus far.
Yoro has continued to impress with his physicality, speed and intelligent use of the ball.
He was left out of the team a couple of times in September but regained his place in the starting line up last time out against Sunderland.
4% of readers believe that another player not on the list deserves the recognition.
