With the Detroit Lions dealing with injuries to both of their starting cornerbacks, an analyst has proposed a trade with the Seattle Seahawks that would give the Lions some insurance at the position.

The Detroit Lions are experiencing some déjà vu when it comes to injuries in 2025, and that's especially true at the cornerback position.
The Lions dealt with injury issues at the position in 2024, and now both Terrion Arnold (shoulder) and D.J. Reed (hamstring) are set to miss time in 2025.
Arnold suffered a shoulder injury in Week 5 that was initially expected to keep him out for an extended period of time, although a second opinion revealed that might not be the case. As for Reed, he's on the injured reserve list and will miss at least three more games after sitting last week.
That leaves the Lions with guys like Amik Robertson, Avonte Maddox and Rock-Ya Sin as options to replace them. Even if Arnold and Reed are back soon, the Lions should look to add more help given their injury woes over the last few seasons. There's nothing wrong with some insurance.
Whether or not general manager Brad Holmes makes a significant move to address the position remains unknown, but he definitely should. One player who could be available for Detroit is Seattle Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen.
Mike Payton of AtoZ Sports recently proposed a trade between the Lions and Seahawks that would bring Woolen to Motown.
- Lions get: CB Riq Woolen
- Seahawks get: 2026 fifth-round pick
"Woolen is the big candidate everyone is talking about right now since the Seahawks have started backing down on him a bit. Look, he’s not having a good season at the moment. But he has four seasons before this that show how good he is," Payton explained.
"I’m not big on ruling a guy as washed after five games. It’s just not a realistic thing. Detroit is a good spot for him to have a change of scenery and prove again that he’s a solid cornerback," Payton added.
Woolen was recently the subject of a trade rumor, so it's realistic to think he could get dealt. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that teams around the NFL think Woolen could be available at the deadline.
"With Seahawks star CB Devon Witherspoon returning on Thursday, teams are monitoring Pro Bowl CB Riq Woolen as a possible trade target by the deadline, sources tell The Insiders," he wrote last week. "Woolen’s playing time has diminished, and in a contract year, teams believe he could be available."
A former Pro Bowler during his rookie campaign, Woolen once looked to be on a star trajectory, but he has seemingly fallen out of favor in recent years.
That said, the numbers show Woolen can still make an impact. The 26-year-old has given up a completion rate of 55.3% and a passer rating of 72.8 over his three-plus season in the NFL.
Woolen would give the Lions a viable starter on the boundary opposite Robertson as long as Arnold and Reed are out, and he would provide elite depth once they return.
For the cost of a fifth-round pick, Woolen would be a worthwhile addition for a Lions team that can leave nothing to chance.
