What to know as Big Ten unveils Wisconsin’s tip times, TV channels, preseason honoree

Wisconsin's John Blackwell was one of 10 players across the conference and the lone Badger on the official preseason all-Big Ten team.

Wisconsin men’s basketball guard John Blackwell is one of 10 members of the 2025-26 preseason all-Big Ten team, the conference announced on Oct. 7.

He is the only Badger on the 10-player all-conference team. Purdue’s Braden Smith is the Big Ten preseason player of the year for the second consecutive season, and Purdue and Oregon are the only schools with multiple players receiving preseason honors.

The Big Ten’s preseason all-conference team does not delineate between first-team and second-team honorees in the group of 10. A media panel from across the conference voted on the group. The conference also does not conduct its own preseason poll although media organizations have picked up that responsibility. Those polls have not yet been released.

Blackwell is coming off a much-improved 2024-25 season, as the 6-foot-4 guard averaged 15.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 45.1%.
