Barcelona is under investigation again.
Catalan police have reported to the Barcelona Court alleged financial irregularities at the club between 2018 and 2020, aimed—according to investigators—at lower tax rates.
The file also includes the transfer of Malcom, acquired from Bordeaux for €41 million in the summer of 2018.
The Brazilian was close to joining Roma, but was snapped up by the Blaugrana shortly before his departure for the capital.
Investigators are challenging the payment of €10 million to Business Futbol España (BFE) for alleged “non-existent or overestimated” intermediation services.
The transaction allegedly involved a modification to the player’s contract, reducing the transfer tax.
Among those under investigation are former president Josep Maria Bartomeu and other executives, accused of unfair management for decisions made without the consent of the Board of Directors.
To avoid sanctions, Joan Laporta’s administration has already initiated a preventive tax regularization, but the investigation remains open.
