Chelsea are seriously considering signing a centre back with Club Brugge star Joel Ordonez someone they’ve liked for a long time according to reports.
The Blues lost Levi Colwill to an ACL injury before the start of the season, and despite public pleas from Enzo Maresca for a new centre back, his wish wasn’t granted.
Chelsea have struggled at centre back this season, with the team making a number of individual errors, and conceding a number of really poor goals.
Chelsea sent scouts to watch Joel Ordonez on the weekend
The decision to not sign another centre back has looked costly this season, especially given the injuries picked up in that position.
For the win against Liverpool Chelsea were without the suspended Trevoh Chalobah, whilst Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana were also absent.

Benoit Badiashile who’s just returned from injury had to go off in the second half along with Josh Acheampong, whilst Chelsea finished the game with Reece James and Jorrel Hato playing centre back.
A number of centre backs should be back for the game against Nottingham Forest, but whether the Blues look to enter the market in January remains to be seen.
However, journalist Graeme Bailey has reported the Blues are considering just that, and sent scouts to watch Ordonez this weekend.
“Chelsea are now looking seriously at bringing in another centre-half, their options are being stretched and they are now doing work on potential options including Ordonez – who they have liked for a long time,” he exclusively told The Chelsea Chronicle.
Ecuador international on Chelsea radar
Chelsea have previously been linked with Ordonez, and the Ecuadorian is regarded as one of the most promising young defenders in Europe.

However, the Blues do have the likes of Mamadou Sarr and Aaron Anselmino on the their books, who are in and around a similar age.
Chelsea really need to think what their plan is at centre back, because it feels like there could be a lot of upheaval in that department next summer.
