Joshua Kimmich produced captain's performance on Friday night scoring brace to lead Germany to comfortable 4 - 0 win over Luxembourg in the 2026 World cup qualifiers.

Kimmich Surpasses Beckenbauer’s Landmark

The victory was extra special for the 29 year old Bayern Munich midfielder who made his 104 international appearance surpassing the legendary Franz Beckenbauer to enter Germany’s all time top 10 list for most caps.

David Raum opened the scoring in the 12 minute with curling free kick before Kimmich doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Luxembourg’s Dirk Carlson was sent off for handball.

Germany Cruise After Early Red Card

With the visitors reduced to ten men, Germany completely controlled the match. Serge Gnabry added the third goal just 3 minute into the second half before Kimmich struck again in the 50 minute to seal dominant win in Sinsheim.

Coach Julian Nagelsmann also handed starts to Jonathan Tah, Aleksandar Pavlovic & Leon Goretzka maintaining strong core as Germany seek smooth qualification path.

Battle at the Top of Group A

The win puts Germany on 6 point from 3 match, level with Northern Ireland & Slovakia but ahead on goal difference. Luxembourg remain bottom without single point.
