New York High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams – Oct. 13

New York high school football is now past the midway point after last week’s games and little change has occurred when it comes to our weekly Top 25 rankings. The latest set of Empire State rankings has Iona Preparatory School as New York’s No. 1 high school football team, with Christian Brothers Academy, St. Francis and Monsignor Farrell following right behind them.

Which other New York high school football teams make the list in our next set of Top 25 rankings of the regular season?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest New York high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Oct. 13.

1. Iona Preparatory School Gaels

Iona Prep (6-0) sits firmly at the top of New York high school football ever since starting the 2025 season off with an impressive victory right out of the gates.

The Gaels at the start of the season halted the Somers Tuskers’ winning streak and routed them, 37-7, at the Hero’s Bowl Classic and then followed it up with a 53-43 victory over Paramus Catholic of New Jersey. Iona Prep made a statement a week and a half ago with a decisive 42-14 thumping of Cardinal Hayes to remain undefeated.

Last week was another strong outing for the Gaels as they rolled to a 33-9 win over Chaminade.

Quarterback Julian Guzman has led the way for Iona Prep’s offense, throwing for 828 yards and 11 touchdowns through the first few games. Running back Crew Davis, a three-star prospect committed to North Carolina, has spearheaded to the Gaels’ efforts on the offensive side of the ball with 429 yards and six touchdowns on the ground this season.

The top-ranked Gaels have arguably their toughest game of the 2025 campaign takes center stage in New York when they take on No. 4 ranked Monsignor Farrell.

2. Syracuse Christian Brothers Academy Brothers

Christian Brothers Academy (6-0) has proven themselves time and time again as one of the top high school football programs in the state of New York and are looking the part once again this fall.

The 2025 season kicked off with a dominating 28-7 victory over Whitesboro to start off at 1-0. Christian Brothers improved to 5-0 a couple weeks ago with another blowout victory, this time a 63-0 rout against Baldwinsville. Looking at the gap between CBA’s scoring versus their opponents is wide as the Brothers have out-scored the opposition 304-43 through six contests.

The Brothers take aim at a 7-0 record when they take another undefeated team in Liverpool (6-0).

3. St. Francis Red Raiders

St. Francis (4-1) opened up the 2025 season in thrilling fashion as they defeated Jackson in a 42-35 offensive shootout. When it comes to offenses, the Red Raiders can keep up with the best of ’em.

The Red Raiders got a solid outing in Week 1 from junior quarterback Trent Buttles, who completed 14 of 29 passes for 257 yards and two touchdowns. St. Francis notched their fourth victory of the season when they cruised by St Joseph, 35-0.

Entering this season, the Red Raiders are seeking to reach the state championship game for the first time since 2018. The Red Raiders will need big seasons from Domonic Cook, Jr. and Mason Anderson if they are to accomplish that goal.

The Red Raiders enjoyed a bye week and will face Bishop Timon-St. Jude this Friday night.

4. Monsignor Farrell Lions

Monsignor Farrell (5-1) just keeps chugging along through their difficult slate of games, but their most recent contest was a little easier for the Lions as they rolled past Fordham Prep, 42-14.

Sophomore quarterback Bryce Moye has been solid behind center in the Lions’ first six games as the signal caller completed 61 of 82 passes for 977 yards, 10 touchdowns and most importantly, zero interceptions. Senior running back Kevin Gumb Jr. has been the workhorse out of the backfield this season, with the tailback rushed for 727 yards and nine touchdowns.

The Lions are coming off a bye week and return to action on Saturday against No. 1 ranked Iona Preparatory School.

5. Garden City Trojans

The Garden City Trojans (5-0) boast one of the longest active winning streaks in the nation with 59 straight victories. This season has been another dominant one for Garden City as they’ve out-scored their opponents 219-37 so far.

Garden City is coming off a 44-7 throttling of Mepham last week to continue the country’s second longest win streak.

If the Trojans can continue their winning ways, they’ll have a chance to tie the state record for consecutive wins in the regular-season finale at New Hyde Park Memorial on Nov. 1.

Up next for Garden City is a home matchup against Glen Cove on Saturday.
